Personal Update

Howdy, y’all. Unca Bubba here. Sorry it’s been so long (a week?), but here’s a quick update.

Yesterday was my walk at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Phoenix. Beautiful weather, great company to walk with (Brenda, Katie and their friends), and I walked the whole way with no problem. It boosted my spirits for a couple of reasons: first, that I was able to walk 3.2 miles (5K) and not feel out of breath, tired, or anything like that. Now, I did take a LONG nap that afternoon, but I think that’s to be expected, n’est-ce que pas? Second, it was nice to be a part of a group of people that were raising awareness for breast cancer…a terrible disease that affects way too many people, not just women.

I also have been playing in a small worship band that meets every Friday night. Yes, that’s right…playing, not singing. A couple of weeks ago, someone sends out an email that says that they need a djimbe player. Now, Bubba’s purty comfortable around musical instruments, but he had to look up djimbe just to find out what it was! Once I found that it was a single drum, I said “hey! that sounds like fun!” so I just emailed back that I had never done it before, but I’d give it a try if they wanted me to. I tried it one night, and that was about 3 weeks ago. I’ve been playing every Friday night since. I have always believed that I would be doing something in ministry involving music, but I thought it was just me daydreaming. Who knows…

Other than that, things have been going very well. Now, I’m not saying that I’m cured or anything like that, but my energy level has increased to a point where I believe that I can live life normally. You can’t imagine how grateful I am…I am so blessed.

I have also given some thought to breaking this into a couple of different blogs. I have pretty much thrown everything together in here…personal, political, religion, etc. and I think it would be a good idea if I seperate those out to make this blog a little more personal, and focus a bit more on my thoughts about the world in the other two blogs. If you have any feedback, positive or negative, feel free to leave it in comments.

Well, that’s about it for now. Unless I change my mind, look for the announcement of at least two new blogs sometime in the next month! Until next time, Bubba sez God bless…and GO DIAMONDBACKS!

Shameless plug for $$$

I am bumping this to the top. Honestly, folks, I don’t care if you do it through my website or someone else’s. But it’s hard to think of any other disease that touches as many people worldwide as breast cancer…please consider giving. Thanks.

Oh, and another thing. I do not benefit from you giving by clicking the link below. I don’t even get to see it, other than the info that you give when you donate. I don’t get prizes for your donations, etc.

Yeah, I’m gonna ask you for money.

No, not for me.

I will be walking in the Race for the Cure in Phoenix on Sunday, October 14th. Hosted by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Race for the Cure raises money and awareness for one of the deadliest diseases, breast cancer. Far too many women (and men) fall victim to this disease, robbing families of their loved ones, even in the prime years of their lives.

As part of my efforts, I am asking you, the wonderful, attractive, and sexy Redneck Desert Dweller reader, to contribute to this cause financially. I have a fundraising page that is set up by active.com, and if you are able to contribute, please click on the link below.

And, if you’re not able to donate, please pray for us walkers, runners…and most importantly, the victims of this terrible disease.

Bubba sez thanks…and God bless.

I have been a little negligent about keeping up my blog…partially because I’ve been so busy, and partially because I’ve been ill. BUT…here goes.

Last week was the second week on provigil (the drug). I felt pretty good, but not as good as the previous week. The week just went by so fast…I did a LOT, including going to the Diamondbacks game against the Cubs on Wednesday (Game 1 of the NLDS), helping one of my friends move on Thursday night, going out to dinner on Friday, and the hockey game on Saturday (Coyotes v. Bruins). On Friday I started to wear down, though, but I just ignored it. By the time Sunday came around, I had a full-blown, can’t breathe, runny nose, feeling miserable cold.

Monday came, and knowing that I’ve missed about as much work as they will tolerate me to miss, I dragged my big ol’ tired butt in. I wasn’t very productive, but I did make it through the day. And good thing the day wasn’t any longer…because I was in bed by 5:30pm, and except to have some toast and juice, I stayed there for the night.

Today is Tuesday, and while I am still breathing with my mouth open while riding my bike, I’m feeling a lot better. Hopefully, with some rest, I can be back to normal (whatever that is) on Wednesday. Tonight will be another go home and do nothing night. If I have energy, though, it will be spent on cleaning house and possibly making some updates on here on some stuff I have knockin about the ol’ noggin.

Anyhoo, that’s what’s going on with me. Hope everything is going well in your world. Until then, Bubba sez God bless…and go Diamondbacks!!!
