For our Easter services at church, we did a Heroes theme. No, not the NBC Heroes series that you got hooked on. Just Heroes. I then took a quiz to see what hero I am.

Your results:
You are Spider-Man

Green Lantern
Iron Man
The Flash
Wonder Woman
You are intelligent, witty,
a bit geeky and have great
power and responsibility.

Are you still alive?

Yep. Believe it or not…I’m still alive!

I apologize for not updating this blog for…well, a LONG time. Several reasons exist for my absence…some physical, some emotional, psychological, etc….but I’ll try to hit the high points.

First of all, I moved. I was living in a house with a roommate…a roommate that went to the bar at least 300 days a year, and always drove home in the same state of intoxication. I never realized how this affected me until a friend and her son dropped by one night. We were in the living room having a good time when Mr. Budweiser stumbles through the door. He goes to the kitchen…and starts slamming stuff around. Now, I’m not talking about “aren’t you closing that cabinet door a little hard?” I’m talking about “you come in here and I’m gonna kick your *ss!” Having not been in the kitchen that day my first thought was “oh, must be too many dirty dishes”…so initially, I didn’t think too much of it…but I was embarassed for my guest and her teenage son.

She then mentioned that this was the THIRD time she had been witness to this…and it got worse each time. Well, Bubba can be a bit slow at times…but I made up my mind that moving day had to happen soon. VERY soon. About 3 weeks later, I had a place picked out, and had started moving.

The move was a great experience for me. I still have no vehicle…and believed I’d have to rent a U-Haul truck to get everything done. I won’t go into details, but I never rented a moving truck, and I was actually turning away help on the main moving day. If you were one of those that helped me move…I can’t express how much help you were. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope to have a small housewarming party…when I get things a little more organized.

I now live in a small apartment about 1.4 miles (2.2km) from work. Alone. And I couldn’t be happier. Literally less than 1 block outside my front door, I have hamburgers, Circle K, Subway, a computer store, a Korean bakery, a Japanese grocery, two liquor stores, and an Irish gift shop. There are drawbacks, though. I’m also down the street from ASU (Arizona State University), which means I’m surrounded by noisy college kids. My apartment sits right on the corner of two major roads. And, if that wasn’t enough noise, I’m also right under the main flight path for Sky Harbor Airport…which happens to be the 8th busiest airport in the US, and the 18th busiest in the world. But it just seems like when I’m home, all of that just doesn’t matter.

I am still playing percussion at church on Friday nights…when I can. A lot of time I’m just too tired, but when I can…it’s a blast.

Speaking of church…we’re having several activities that you locals might be interested in. One of our pastors, Ron Merrell, is doing a stand-up comedy night to benefit the high school kids…because going to camp gets pretty expensive. Ron used to be a writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Bubba sez he’s got teh funny. $10 gets you in, details HERE. Also, KJ-52 and Superchick will be in concert April 26. Tickets are HERE. Or, if you want something a little cheaper (FREE), come to our services on April 20 and hear Jim Caviezel speak. If the name doesn’t look familiar, his face will. Besides starring in Passion of the Christ as Jesus, he’s also been in Angel Eyes, Deja Vu, High Crimes, Pay it Forward, and Frequency. For additional information, Bubba sez go to the church website.

Well, lunch is over…back to work I go. God bless…and I love you all.
